Faith FormationHoly Trinity & Ascension Catholic Churches
I have taught faith formation for four out of the last six years. More than anything, this experience has taught me how to fail well - to use my experiences of failure to understand my students better to help learn what will work next time. Currently, my challenge is fourth graders during the time of COVID-19. So far, I've learned dance breaks are a necessity. Stay tuned. The essay below, which I wrote as a senior in high school, explores more specifically the experiences I had in my first years as a teacher and how they led me to pursue education as my career. |
Methods CourseOnline Methods Course - Mrs. Annie Mckenzie
Though not exactly in-class experience, my methods course provided me with concrete experience of many tasks that I will complete as a teacher, including creating assignments, rubrics, and a syllabus. I will be able to use most, if not all, of the artifacts that I created for my classroom in this class. My final assignment for this class was a 10-day unit plan, attached below. It is a unit on The Giver by Lois Lowry for eighth grade students. Included also are the artifacts that I created to accompany them. |
Resident AssistantUMary Residence Life
As an RA, I planned and executed programs, built relationships with student-residents and with parents, and held myself - and my residents - to high standards. Loving my residents while dealing first-hand with their greatest achievements and toughest moments is an experience that I will be sure to remember in building relationships with my own students. |
